Farm Tours

Kit & Sheryl have operated their farmstay business for 13 years and we have been amazed at the interest there has been for alpacas. Alpacas have an inquisitive nature, are friendly, have gorgeous teddy bear good looks, have beautiful long eyelashes and come in a range of different colours. Most visitors are mesmerized by them and fall in love – they appeal to both adults and children alike. All our hose guests receive a farm tour as part of their farm stay experience. The interest has been so great that we are now offering farm tours for those people who have limited time on their New Zealand holiday. Check out the positive comments on Tripadvisor. 

The Tour

Our tour takes about an hour and is very hands on. Visitors will be taken to a yard/pen where they can touch the alpacas, hold a cria (baby alpaca) and takes lots of photographs. Kit and Sheryl will discuss all aspects of alpaca farming and answer any questions. The highlight for many is the opportunity of taking an alpaca for a walk using a halter and lead. We also offer visitors the opportunity of handling the fibre after it has been removed from the animal. The fibre has a luxurious, soft handling feel to it and is free of lanolin. Take a sample away with you as a reminder of your visit to Silverstream. Silverstream has approximately 230 alpacas in white, light and medium fawn, brown, grey and black.
